DS1525+ starts at 5 bays but grows to 15 drives once two DX525 expansion units are added, with a PCIe 3.0 x2 expansion slot ready for a 10GbE network card alongside the built-in 2 x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Five 3.5"/2.5" SATA III drive bays are joined by dual M.2 2280 slots for NVMe caching or storage, run by a 2.2 GHz AMD Ryzen V1500B 4-core CPU and 8GB of DDR4 ECC RAM. Sequential performance reaches up to 1181 MB/s reads and 1180 MB/s writes, backed by a hardware encryption engine, and connectivity extends to 2 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 and 2 x USB-C ports. RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, Basic, Hybrid and JBOD are all supported. Running Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), it's a flexible all-in-one solution for data sharing, synchronisation, backup and surveillance.
