The Canon EOS R5 C is two cameras in one body — a 45-megapixel full-frame stills camera and a full-frame 8K Cinema EOS video camera — combined without asking either discipline to compromise. Two cameras, one switch

A single physical toggle swaps the camera between photo and video, changing the entire menu system, control layout and on-screen interface to match. In photo mode it behaves like a flagship stills body; flip the switch and it becomes a dedicated cinema camera, so neither side is a menu compromise on the other.

Recording and formats

It records internally in 12-bit Cinema RAW Light up to 8K, alongside JPEG and C-RAW for stills, and takes CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II cards with dual-slot recording. A fan-cooled body supports long recording times, while the most demanding modes — such as 8K60 RAW — draw on external power.

Autofocus and handling

Dual Pixel CMOS AF with subject and eye detection tracks moving subjects across the frame, and 13 reassignable buttons let operators map controls to the way they shoot. A timecode DIN input and multi-function shoe open the body up to sync and accessories, and up to four channels of audio are available with the optional XLR adapter.

Lenses and power

RF lenses mount natively and EF glass fits via an adapter, giving access to Canon's full range across both stills and cine work. Power is flexible for studio or location shooting, with the highest-bandwidth video modes relying on an external supply.
