The Canon EOS C80 is a compact 6K full-frame cinema camera that brings the EOS C400's sensor into a lighter, C70-style body. It's a strong fit for documentary, solo operators and fast-moving shoots where a full-frame look and cinema-grade internal recording have to travel light.
The sensor
It uses the same 6K full-frame, back-illuminated CMOS sensor as the C400, with triple base ISOs of 800, 3200 and 12,800 that hold clean images across very different lighting, and up to 16 stops of dynamic range. Full-frame and Super35 recording modes let one camera match different lens sets and looks.
Recording and formats
The C80 records internally in Cinema RAW Light and HEVC/AVC to dual SD cards, shooting 6K30 in full-frame, DCI 4K/2K, and 4K up to 120p in either full-frame or Super35. Recording tools include 3D LUTs and Long GOP options for efficient on-set workflows.
Autofocus and handling
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II keeps focus reliable when you're operating alone, and a built-in ND filter allows exposure changes on the fly without swapping glass. The compact body and native RF mount open up Canon's RF lens range in a package that suits gimbals and run-and-gun work.
Monitoring and connectivity
It outputs 12G-SDI and HDMI simultaneously for monitoring or live use, and carries BNC timecode for multi-camera sync alongside dual mini-XLR audio inputs — enough broadcast and film connectivity to slot into a larger rig without adapters.
Where it fits
The C80 is the natural second body to a C400, or a lighter A-camera in its own right: matched sensor and colour science mean the two intercut cleanly on a multi-camera shoot, while the smaller form makes it the easier choice on a gimbal, in a tight location, or for a documentary crew moving all day.
