The Universal Videohub Optical Fibre Interface from Blackmagic Design is a hot-swappable card module for the Videohub 72 and Videohub 288 rack-frame routing switchers, adding four inputs and four outputs per card, along with a port for remote control of up to four decks. Built-in SDI reclocking runs alongside automatic SD/HD/3Gbps switching, so the card adapts to whatever signal rate arrives on the fibre. 1310nm laser drivers and receivers give the interface a range of 25 kilometres at 3Gbps, extending SDI routing well beyond the reach of copper cabling -- useful for linking a router to sources or destinations in another building or across a large broadcast site.
