The AJA U-TAP HDMI is a USB 3.0 (3.2 Gen 1) powered HDMI capture device for use in the field, on set or in a studio, connecting an HDMI source to a computer over USB without the need to install additional software drivers. It is UVC and UAC compliant on macOS, Windows and Linux, and backward compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 2.0, with a maximum throughput of 5 Gb/s. The compact, bus-powered unit captures frame rates up to 1080p60 in YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit, plus YCbCr 4:4:4 and RGB 4:4:4 at 8-, 10- or 12-bit (raster- and frame-rate dependent, and also governed by host performance and software), suiting high frame rate HD work, live events and fast-moving subjects, and carries embedded stereo audio alongside its HDMI input. No drivers are required, so it works directly with UVC/UAC-compatible capture and streaming software on any of the three platforms.
