vMix 4K carries the full HD production toolset and adds 4K source switching, a step up from vMix HD for productions that work in higher-resolution formats. Running on a Windows PC (Windows 10 or 11), it switches between multiple HD or 4K sources — the maximum set by the computer, its GPU and the video capture hardware installed — streams a live program feed to the web over RTMP, and records locally at up to 4K resolution in AVI, MP4, MPEG-2 or WMV. Where a video output is available, it can send out a full-quality program feed for local presentation or separate recording. Over the HD edition it adds Instant Replay with slow motion and ISO recording with MultiCorder. Transition effects, titles, chroma key and live video effects, a choice of four HD virtual sets, multiview with eight overlay channels and screen capture from Mac or Windows are all included, and it supports Blackmagic, AJA and Matrox capture cards.
