The RS3618xs is a 12-bay 2U RackStation built for large-scale enterprise deployments, simplifying data management and virtualisation while offering rapid capacity expansion. Its 12 drive bays natively support 3.5" SATA hard drives as well as 2.5" SATA HDDs and SSDs, and two optional RX1217 or RX1217RP expansion units each add a further 12 bays via the integrated expansion ports, scaling the platform up to 36 bays in total. A 2.4 GHz Intel Xeon D-1521 quad-core processor runs multiple functions simultaneously, backed by 8GB of DDR4 ECC RAM (1 x 8GB, expandable to 64GB across four modules) for fast access to frequently used files and programs. Networking runs over four Gigabit Ethernet ports, with two PCIe Gen 3.0 x8 slots for expansion cards, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports for supported external USB devices, RAID 0/1/5/6/10/JBOD with an AES-NI hardware encryption engine, a 500W power supply, and Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) for management.
