The SmallHD Cine 7 is a 7-inch on-camera monitor for cinematographers, pairing a colour-accurate wide-gamut touchscreen with SmallHD's PageOS tools and optional control of ARRI, RED and Sony cameras. SmallHD designed it to be viewed in full sunlight.
The 7-inch display
The 7.02-inch IPS LCD runs at 1920 x 1200, a 16:10 ratio, with 10-bit processing on an 8-bit panel, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 160-degree viewing angle.
PageOS monitoring tools
PageOS supports custom Page Profiles with frame guides, focus assist, false colour, zebras, waveform, vectorscope, RGB parade and histogram. It also de-squeezes anamorphic images from 0.75x to 2.5x. 3D LUTs load from an SD card or USB storage and can be applied downstream on the SDI or HDMI output, and the Cine 7 cross-converts between HDMI and SDI.
Inputs, outputs and power
There are two 3G-SDI inputs, the second doubling as a loop out, plus an HDMI input with HDMI loop-through, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Ethernet, Micro USB and an SD card slot. Power comes through a 2-pin locking input at 10 to 34 V DC or the included Sony L-Series dual battery bracket, with optional Gold Mount and V-Mount battery plates. The monitor doesn't charge batteries.
Camera control and wireless options
Camera Control licences for RED DSMC2, RED KOMODO, ARRI and Sony VENICE are sold separately. An optional Teradek Bolt RX Monitor Module receives wireless video from any Bolt 4K or Bolt 6 transmitter at up to 1500 ft line of sight. The anodised aluminium body weighs 567 g (20 oz) and has four 1/4-20 mounting points.
