The Ultimate 1040 is OConnor's lightweight fluid head, supplied on its own for operators building onto an existing tripod. It supports 45 pounds of camera and accessories at a centre of gravity 5 inches above the camera platform, and shares its operating features with the rest of the OConnor Ultimate line, so moving between lighter and heavier cameras does not mean relearning the head. It suits an owner-operator's compact build and a crew's second head equally.

Stepless counterbalance

The counterbalance system helps keep the camera from tilting forward or back on its own and holds it in the position the operator sets, without extra effort to hold it there. It is a stepless system, continuously variable from zero all the way to the maximum weight the head can support.

Tilt range and drag

The head offers a ±90° tilt range, with independent stepless tilt and pan drag so each axis can be set separately for the shot.

Mounting and controls

A large Euro-style quick-release camera plate handles fast camera changes, an interchangeable 100mm ball base sets the head onto a matching bowl, and left and right pan handle rosettes let the operator work the head from either side.
