The Canon ME200S-SH is a compact multi-purpose camera with a Super 35mm CMOS sensor, built for low-light capture and for remote or fixed installations. It outputs Full HD over two 3G/HD-SDI terminals and HDMI to an external recorder or monitor, takes lenses on an EF mount with Cinema Lock, and reaches a maximum equivalent ISO of 204,800. Canon pitches it for broadcast, cinematic production and surveillance, and notes it can be fitted to a drone.
Sensitivity from daylight to near-darkness
The equivalent ISO range runs from approximately 320 to 204,800, with a minimum illumination of 0.015 lux in 59.94 Hz mode (0.013 lux in 50 Hz mode). An electrically operated IR cut-out filter allows infrared shooting, and Canon says infrared can be captured in colour. Two glass ND filters (1/8 and 1/64) are under electronic control, automatic or manual, and Canon Log or Wide DR mode gives 12 stops of dynamic range at 9.0 dB.
EF lenses and Dual Pixel CMOS AF
The EF mount with Cinema Lock supports EF and EF-S lenses and selected Canon Servo lenses through a 12-pin interface, and lenses can be attached and removed without rotating the barrel. Dual Pixel CMOS AF gives continuous autofocus with compatible EF, EF-L and EF-S lenses, with One-Shot AF available from an assignable button, and a digital tele converter offers x2, x4 and x8 magnification.
Full HD out to an external recorder
The sensor has approximately 8.29 megapixels effective and works with the DIGIC DV4 processor, outputting 1080p, 1080i or 720p at up to 50P/59.94P. The camera records nothing itself: its microSD slot is for firmware updates only, so recording is to an external device over the two 3G/HD-SDI outputs (Output 1 with on-screen display, Output 2 clean) or HDMI. A BNC genlock input is fitted. Nine Custom Picture options include Canon Log and Wide DR and can be adjusted for chroma key work.
Built small for fixed and remote positions
The body measures 102 x 116 x 113 mm and weighs approximately 1.0 kg, drawing about 11 W from an 11 to 17V DC supply on a 4-pin XLR or 2-pin connection. Two remote terminals (a 2.5mm mini jack and a circular 8-pin) use Canon's protocol, with an optional RC-V100 remote control unit, and a 3.5mm stereo mini jack takes a plug-in power mic. Canon lists an operating range of approximately 0°C to 40°C.
