The Canon CR-N700 is a broadcast PTZ camera built around a 1.0-inch type CMOS sensor and the DIGIC DV7 processor, capturing up to 4K UHD 60P at 4:2:2 10-bit. It brings a 15x optical zoom, 12G-SDI, HDMI and IP outputs and Dual Pixel CMOS AF together in one head, and Canon positions it for TV studios, broadcast, live events, reality TV, houses of worship and sport.
4K60P imaging with HDR
The sensor offers approximately 8.29 megapixels effective (3840 x 2160), with direct HDR recording in PQ or HLG formats. Canon Log 3 and Wide DR are among the custom picture settings, so the camera can be matched to other Canon cameras. A built-in motor-operated ND filter and an IR-based Night Mode cover bright conditions and near-dark capture.
Zoom, focus and framing
The 15x optical zoom covers 25.5mm to 382.5mm (35mm equivalent) and is image stabilised in 4K, extending to a 30x advanced zoom in Full HD. Dual Pixel CMOS AF works with EOS iTR AF X deep-learning autofocus for head detection, eye detection and tracking. Region of Interest cropping lets a single camera produce two video feeds of up to Full HD.
Outputs, power and IP protocols
Video leaves the camera over 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HDMI or IP, with a BNC genlock terminal, two balanced XLR audio inputs and a 3.5mm mic input. Protocols include NDI|HX, SRT, FreeD, RTMP/RTMPS, RTP/RTSP and Canon XC, plus Standard Communication. Power comes from PoE++ (IEEE 802.3bt) over the LAN connector or from 12V DC; PoE and PoE+ cannot be used.
Pan, tilt and automated moves
Pan covers ±170° and tilt covers -30° to +90° at speeds from 0.1° to 100° per second, with up to 100 presets including the home position. Auto Tracking runs through the Canon RA-AT001 application, free in its Lite version with firmware 1.4.0 or later and with a paid version for full functionality, while Auto Loop for repeated moves is a paid application. Control is by IP, RS-422, Wi-Fi or the supplied IR remote, and it works with the RC-IP300 and RC-IP1000 controllers. The CR-N700BK is the black model, suited to studios and venues where a dark camera body sits quietly against dark sets, trusses and walls, and a white version is also available.
