The Canon CR-N500 is a professional 4K PTZ camera built to sit alongside Canon's cinema and broadcast bodies in multi-camera productions — studios, events, live streaming and houses of worship. Because it's operated remotely, one operator can run several cameras from a single position.

Canon colour in a PTZ body

A 1-inch Dual Pixel CMOS sensor with DIGIC DV6 processing brings Canon colour science and Canon Log 3 to a PTZ camera, so its images grade alongside the other Canon cameras in a rig rather than fighting them. It captures UHD 4K up to 30p and Full HD up to 60p.

Built for live

Built-in NDI|HX2 — with no separate licence required — drops the camera straight into an NDI network, and a 15x optical zoom (20x digital) covers a wide range of framing from a fixed position. Built-in ND filters, genlock and Canon Log 3 handle the practical demands of a live multi-camera environment.

Outputs and control

Video outputs cover HDMI, 3G-SDI and IP, with PoE+ carrying power and data over a single cable to simplify installs. Dual XLR and 3.5 mm audio inputs feed sound directly, and the camera is controllable over IP, RS-422, infrared or Wi-Fi, pairing with Canon's RC-IP PTZ controllers.

How it's used

In a fixed install it earns its place by cutting crew: mounted high in a studio, church or auditorium, several CR-N500s run from one RC-IP controller, so a single operator covers wide, close and reverse angles at once. PoE+ keeps the cabling to one run per camera, and NDI carries every feed back over the same network the production already uses.
