The HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR is an 8K recorder built for broadcast and post-production environments, combining a large display with standard touchscreen deck controls for viewing recordings, physical deck controls on its left side, and two CFast card slots on its right for recording.

Quad 12G-SDI connectivity for 8K resolution

Quad 12G-SDI connectivity carries 8K resolution, working alongside HDMI and legacy analogue connections, with the analogue path suited to archiving older material into the same workflow. Both SDI and HDMI sources are automatically detected for HDR, and the deck carries Rec. 2020 and Rec. 709 colour space support together with HDR scopes for monitoring exposure and colour on the built-in display.

H.265 and ProRes recording with optional cache

Recording and playback formats cover H.265 alongside Apple ProRes support, with an M.2 PCIe NVMe card slot for optional cache or internal recording. Multichannel SDI and analogue audio travel alongside the video signal, and 3D LUTs can be loaded onto the deck and saved for later recall.

Fast external storage and network connectivity

A USB Type-C External Disk port connects flash disks or complete disk systems, such as the Blackmagic MultiDock 10G 4-slot SSD dock, for extending recording storage beyond the two onboard CFast card slots. A 10G Ethernet connection is also built in for fast network file transfer.

Pairs with the HyperDeck Extreme Control deck

The HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR is designed to work alongside the optional HyperDeck Extreme Control deck, which adds traditional deck control with a built-in editor for automating the ingest of legacy videotape-based programming. Both units share the same 3 RU, half-rack width size and install side by side in a rack, combining into a traditional broadcast deck for a comprehensive workflow.
