The ATEM Television Studio HD8 2TB builds on the HD8 switcher with 2TB of M.2 NVMe flash memory installed internally, so H.264 programme recording runs straight to internal storage with no external drives to manage — or out to USB-C media when files need to move. Streaming gains SRT alongside RTMP, over Ethernet or a shared USB-C internet connection, and this model also supports the Blackmagic Cloud Stream Router application in Blackmagic Cloud.

USB audio output is the other addition, sending digital audio over USB-C with full Fairlight Live integration for external live mixing. The switching platform matches the HD8: eight 3G-SDI inputs with re-sync and dedicated frame rate and format converters, 12 SDI outputs covering programme, two aux feeds and a multiview, plus an HDMI multiview output, all in 10-bit 4:2:2 at HD standards up to 1080p60.

Production tools run to four ATEM Advanced Chroma Keyers, two DVEs, SuperSource, two media players with 20 stills and two clips up to 1080p60, and a 58-channel audio mixer with talkback and mix minus. A four-port Gigabit Ethernet switch connects panels and network gear, and the multiview is configurable to 16, 13, 10, 7 or 4 views with source labels and audio meters.

The built-in broadcast panel carries tri-colour LED crosspoint buttons under six-row LCD labels, 10 macro buttons plus shift, a fader bar, numeric keypad and 3-axis joystick. Camera control reaches lens, gain, white balance, shutter and colour corrector on most Blackmagic Design cameras, with BNC timecode and reference in and out on the rear.
