The ATEM Television Studio 4K8 2TB adds 2TB of M.2 NVMe flash memory to the Ultra HD 4K8 switcher, so H.264 programme recording runs straight to internal storage or out to external USB-C drives. It also gains SRT streaming alongside RTMP, support for the Blackmagic Cloud Stream Router application and USB audio output with full Fairlight Live integration for external live audio mixing.

The 12G-SDI backbone matches the 4K8: eight inputs with re-sync and dedicated frame rate and format converters, SDI auto-detection across 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G and switching up to 2160p60 in 10-bit 4:2:2. Ten of the 12 SDI outputs are 12G-SDI aux feeds for external recorders, and the multiview runs on 12G-SDI and HDMI with down conversion, configurable to 16, 13, 10, 7 or 4 views.

A four-port Ethernet switch supports 10G as well as Gigabit connections, and production tools cover four ATEM Advanced Chroma Keyers, two DVEs, SuperSource and two media players with Ultra HD clips up to 2160p60. The 58-channel audio mixer includes talkback and mix minus, with two XLR inputs, four 1/4 inch jack outputs and 16 assignable embedded audio channels on the SDI outputs.

The built-in broadcast panel has tri-colour LED crosspoint buttons under six-row LCD labels, 10 macro buttons plus shift, a fader bar, numeric keypad and 3-axis joystick, with BNC timecode and reference in and out on the rear. Camera control reaches lens, gain, white balance, shutter, ND filter and colour corrector on most Blackmagic Design cameras.
