The ATEM Studio Converter 2 takes video signals sent over optical fibre and converts them to SDI for use with a video switcher. Paired with the Blackmagic Design ATEM Camera Converter, it carries signal up to 28 miles between camera and switcher over fibre cable. A typical setup places the Studio Converter 2 between the switcher and up to four ATEM Camera Converter units, packed into a single 1RU unit as four bidirectional fibre-to-SDI converters. It receives the fibre signals, converts them to SDI using 10-bit processing, and sends them on to the switcher through four switchable SD/HD-SDI outputs. Camera talkback runs alongside the video path, with select, volume and mute controls, and the unit supports SDI switcher tally output and sends the programme feed back out to the fibre-connected cameras.
