The ATEM 4 M/E Broadcast Studio 4K is a live switcher for HD and UHD 4K broadcast production. Twenty 12G-SDI inputs support UHD 4K video up to 59.94fps, and are backward compatible with 1080p, 1080i or 720p sources — though inputs don't scale, so all sources plugged in at once must share the same resolution.

Synchronisation and audio for mixed sources

All inputs are frame synchronised, so non-genlocked sources can be used. Audio runs via all SDI inputs plus two sets of dedicated analogue stereo inputs on XLR and RCA, through a 24-input by 2-channel audio mixer.

Reference, monitoring and keying

A Tri-Sync or Black Burst reference sync input feeds the built-in frame synchronisers, with two independent multiview outputs and programme outputs in HD or 4K HD. Keying runs to 16 upstream and 2 downstream keyers.

Control

The switcher supports 10-bit HD and Ultra HD 4K, and can be controlled as hardware or via software for Mac and Windows.
