The Sony FX6 Full Frame Camera was developed for versatile, cine-style imaging in a truly compact form, built to supplement FX9 or VENICE capture on a larger production, or to nimbly take on documentary, gimbal and drone shoots on its own.

A full-frame sensor in a compact, lightweight body

The FX6 combines a 4K full-frame, 10.2MP Exmor R sensor with a processing engine built for sensitive capture across a range of light levels. Weighing just under 2 lb — a full 2 lb lighter than the FX9 — and measuring 6 x 4.6 inches, it packs a full-frame sensor into a body comparable in size to the Super35-sensor Sony FS5.

Up to UHD 4K120 with 15+ stops of dynamic range

Recording covers DCI 4K60p, UHD 4K120 and 1080p240, with 15+ stops of dynamic range in S-Log3 EI. A base ISO of 800 is joined by a 12,800 ISO high-sensitivity mode for low-light scenes, across a stated 320-409,600 maximum ISO range, alongside S-Cinetone gamma for filmlike skin tones plus S-Log3 and HLG options.

10-bit recording and dual card slots

The FX6 records up to 10-bit, 4:2:2 XAVC-I internally, with 16-bit raw output available, to dual CFexpress Type A/SDXC card slots, giving a choice of card types in the same body.

Autofocus and manual control for a single operator

Fast, accurate phase-detection autofocus includes Face Detection and real-time Eye AF, for tracking a subject without a second operator pulling focus. Both auto and manual ND filter settings give quick exposure compensation as light changes, and a 3.5-inch LCD monitor adds touchscreen access to key menu settings, with flexible positioning for comfortable single-operator use.
