The Sony FX3A is a full-frame Cinema Line camera built around a BIONZ XR image-processing engine, delivering high sensitivity and a wide dynamic range in a compact body designed for solo operators and small crews working across documentary, corporate and narrative production. It carries the same video-first control philosophy as the rest of the FX series, prioritising fast, camera-operator-friendly access over stills-camera menus.

High-frame-rate recording with a built-in fan

The FX3A records 4K at up to 120fps and Full HD at up to 240fps for slow-motion work, with an in-built fan enabling uninterrupted 4K 60p recording.

Stabilisation and autofocus for solo operators

5.5-step (CIPA-rated) image stabilisation with an Active Mode option, combined with real-time tracking autofocus to 4K 120p, is built for operators working without a focus puller or a dedicated camera assistant, keeping the shot steady and in focus while the operator also handles framing and audio.

Top handle and video-specific controls

A top handle carries two XLR inputs and three 1/4-20 UNC mounting points for accessories, alongside a video-specific button layout — two recording buttons, three tally lamps and a zoom lever — and the ability to display video simultaneously across three screens for the operator, director and client on set.

Cageless body and S-Cinetone colour matching

The cageless design mounts directly to accessories, gimbals, drones and vehicle rigs without an add-on rig, keeping the overall package light for single-operator setups. S-Cinetone gives an instant cinematic look straight out of the camera and colour-matches with the FX9 and FX6, for productions mixing FX3A footage with larger Cinema Line cameras on the same edit.
