The Allegro Pro 8-Port USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C PCIe 3.0 Card adds eight USB-C ports to a compatible Windows, Mac or Linux computer, each capable of a full 10 Gb/s with compatible USB 3.2 Gen 2 devices. Four ASMedia 3142 controllers each drive a pair of ports independently, so every port carries its full 10 Gb/s concurrently rather than sharing bandwidth across the card. The PCIe 3.0 x16 card supplies up to 7.5W (1.5A) of power per port to connected hard drives, SSDs and other USB Type-C devices, with independent per-port power regulation so a glitch on one port doesn't disconnect a drive on another. It draws all the power it needs from the PCIe slot, so it installs into any compatible computer or Thunderbolt expansion system without a spare power connector, and a resettable fuse on each port protects the card and computer if a cable or peripheral fails.
