The MKE 440 is a compact stereo shotgun microphone that captures focused stereo sound from within the camera's field of view while rejecting off-axis noise from outside it. Two mini-shotgun capsules are mounted in a patented V-shape arrangement for frontal focus and off-axis rejection. It has a stereo super-cardioid pickup pattern, a frequency response of 50 Hz to 20 kHz, and a maximum sound pressure level of 132 dB. A 3-level sensitivity switch and a high-pass filter for rumble removal are built in. It runs on two AAA batteries for up to 100 hours, connects via a stereo 3.5mm output, and is internally shock-mounted with a stainless-steel micro-mesh cover for wind protection.
