The VideoMic NTG brings the sound of Rode's NTG shotgun microphones, with technology ported from the NTG5, into a camera-mount mic that runs as a hybrid analogue/USB device — plugging straight into cameras, smartphones, tablets, portable recorders, or USB-equipped computers with no adapters required. An auto-sensing 3.5mm TRRS output and included TRRS cable handle the analogue connection, while a USB output serves computers directly; when used as a USB microphone, the 3.5mm jack switches to a stereo headphone output for real-time monitoring. Focused directivity picks up sound from directly ahead of the mic, with continuously variable gain and digitally switched tone controls. An internal battery gives up to 30 hours of use and recharges over USB. A peak warning LED, a -20dB pad, and a selectable -20dB safety channel help guard against distortion, and the aerospace-grade aluminium housing keeps the mic compact and lightweight on a camera or boompole. A windscreen and shoe/pole shockmount are included.
