The Fujinon HA25x16.5BERD-F18 is a 2/3" high-definition telephoto lens for ENG/EFP cameras, built around a 25x optical zoom with a 2x motor-driven extender for instant telephoto reach at the flick of a switch. It's designed for gyro-stabilised airborne and remote photography, where light weight and compact dimensions are critical, and where an operator may not be able to reach the lens barrel directly.

A 25x zoom with a motor-driven 2x extender

On its own the lens spans 16.5–413mm; bring in the 2x extender and reach opens out to 33–826mm. Maximum relative aperture sits at F2.8 through 16.5–289mm and falls to F4 once the lens is racked to 413mm. The extender itself is motor-driven, so it switches in for instant telephoto without anyone touching the lens barrel — useful when the lens is mounted out of reach on a gyro-stabilised platform.

QuickZoom and DIGI Power servo handling

QuickZoom snaps the lens to full telephoto and back at a touch, a fast way to check focus before framing the shot. The standard Digi Power zoom and focus servo, with direct RS232 control, rounds out the lens for operation from a base station or control panel some distance from the lens itself.

Compact enough for remote and airborne work

At 2.9kg (without lens hood) and with reduced focus breathing, this is the heavier of Fujinon's two HA25x optical blocks in this range, built for gyro-stabilised aircraft, remote wildlife photography and HD surveillance work all the same. It closes down to a 2.2m minimum object distance, takes an M107 x 1 filter, and covers both widescreen 16:9 and traditional 4:3 production.
