The UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G captures and plays back 12G-SDI at the same time, over a single bidirectional Thunderbolt 4 cable that also powers the unit. It is the SDI-only model in the family: one multi-rate input, independent fill and key outputs and a dedicated monitoring output, in every SD, HD and Ultra HD standard up to 2160p60. This is the model for live production — instant replay, auto stingers, broadcast graphics and live grading — driven from an Apple Silicon Mac, Windows or Linux computer.

Simultaneous capture and playback is what sets it apart. Connect the input to a switcher multi-view and use the live action replay features in DaVinci Resolve to roll replays into the programme, firing auto stingers through the fill and key outputs. The same bidirectional link supports live grading — capture video, apply colour correction in DaVinci Resolve and output the result in real time — or turns the computer into a real time graphics or AI image processor in an SDI chain.

All SDI connections are multi-rate at 270Mb, 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G, switchable between SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD and 4K, with 16 channels of embedded audio on both input and output at 48 kHz, 24-bit. Standards cover NTSC and PAL, every 720p, 1080i and 1080p rate to 1080p60 plus 1080PsF, 2K and 4K DCI up to 60p, and Ultra HD to 2160p60. Sampling is 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 with 10-bit YUV in all standards and up to 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 up to 2160p30, in Rec. 601, Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020, with HDR static metadata, HLG and PQ, plus RP 188 timecode and closed captioning.

It uses the DeckLink API, so almost all video software works, and files can be Apple ProRes, DNxHR and DNxHD, AVC-Intra, XDCAM, HEVC or uncompressed 8 and 10-bit. Media Express, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey and the Desktop Video utility are included, and a free developer SDK for Mac, Windows and Linux lets broadcasters build custom replay or processing solutions. In the box: a welcome wallet with QR code for the software download, plus a 1 year limited warranty.
