The Studio Converter brings the benefit of SMPTE fibre at a more economical cost, using a single 10G Ethernet cable to connect to a Studio Camera 4K Pro. It takes advantage of the camera's PoE capability, powering the camera and carrying its video, audio and talkback down the one cable, with the converter's own built-in power supply powering the camera over that cable, so no separate power source is needed near the camera. Breakout connections from the camera include converting the camera and programme-return feeds to SDI, and a built-in screen displays the camera image along with pertinent information. This turns the camera connection into a single Ethernet run back to a machine room, and two Studio Converter units fit side by side in a rack, with an optional rack shelf to minimise the impact on rack space.
