The AJA Io X3 is a compact capture and output device for DCI 2K and HD/SD workflows up to 60p, connecting to a laptop, desktop or mini computer over a single Thunderbolt 3 cable, with a second Thunderbolt port for daisy-chaining. Four bidirectional 3G-SDI inputs/outputs sit alongside individual HDMI 2.0 input and output, with an HDMI multiview output for viewing up to four channels on one screen (SDI multiview output is not supported). HDR is supported in HLG, HDR10, PQ and Dolby Vision, with HDR metadata capture and automatic playback detection where application support is available; colour handling runs to YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit up to 60p and RGB 4:4:4 12-bit up to 30p, and a built-in downstream keyer allows graphics to be inserted directly into the signal. Audio is embedded 16-channel on SDI and 8-channel on HDMI, with flexible balanced analogue audio I/O via a standard DB-25 connector using the TASCAM pinout, configurable as 8 inputs, 8 outputs, or 4 inputs plus 4 outputs. A 4-pin XLR power input runs the Io X3 from batteries or the included AC adapter. RS-422 provides Sony 9-pin VTR/machine control, and reference is a separate dedicated BNC input for analogue black or composite sync, with LTC timecode over BNC input and output.
