The VFH790 is a pyramid-style viewfinder hood for Sony's HDVF-EL70 and HDVF-EL75 electronic viewfinders (also listed as a compatible outdoor hood option for the HDVF-EL740), shading the display for easier viewing under bright sunlight or studio lighting. It suits outside-broadcast (OB) and sporting-event work, where a clear view of the viewfinder image in strong ambient light matters. It is longer than the standard indoor hood supplied with these viewfinders, and is offered specifically as the dedicated outdoor alternative to that standard hood.
