Built around a newly developed 26.1MP APS-C BSI CMOS sensor using a Super 35mm (16:9) sensor area and the BIONZ XR processor, the Sony FX30 brings Cinema Line capture to a smaller-sensor, more accessible body — supplied here with a detachable XLR handle unit fitted with two inputs. Sony positions its imaging system as on par with other cameras in the Cinema Line, aimed at content creators and filmmakers who want a complete filmmaking system without stepping up to a full-frame body.

10-bit 4K recording to 120fps

Recording runs to 10-bit 4:2:2 UHD 4K at up to 120fps in XAVC S-I, with a 16-bit raw output option for external recorders. S-Cinetone, S-Log3 and HLG gamma curves are available, backed by 14+ stops of dynamic range for grading latitude in mixed lighting.

Autofocus, sensitivity and dual card slots

Phase-detection autofocus with Face Tracking and Eye AF tracks the subject automatically, across a standard ISO range of 100–32000 with Dual Base ISO extending usable sensitivity into low light. Dual CFexpress Type A/SDXC card slots give a choice of recording media between the fastest CFexpress cards and widely available SDXC cards, and User LUTs with timecode sync support round out the on-set workflow.

Compact, cage-free body

The compact form factor is designed for cage-free use, keeping the rig light for handheld, gimbal or drone work rather than adding bulk with a protective cage.

XLR handle unit included

A detachable XLR handle unit with two inputs is fitted as standard, adding on-camera XLR audio without a separate accessory purchase — useful for run-and-gun shooters who still need broadcast-standard microphone connections.
