The HKCU-SM100 is a CCU extension adaptor that, paired with Sony's HDCE-100 camera-side adaptor, converts the cable format between the camera head and Camera Control Unit from SMPTE optical fibre to single mode fibre (SMF) for the HDC and HSC camera series. Over SMF, the camera-to-CCU distance extends to 10 km. The SMF cable carries video and audio (INCOM, MIC) from the camera to the CCU, and video, prompter video and audio (INCOM, PGM) back from the CCU to the camera. In 4K camera systems, the HDCE-100 and HKCU-SM100 can be used together with a BPU-4000 baseband processor unit to supply power to the CA-4000 camera system adaptor or an HDC-4300 camera.
