An onboard Intel X540 controller drives the two RJ45 ports on the Twin10G Dual Port 10GBASE-T PCIe Card, offloading TCP, UDP and IPv4 checksum processing — with TSO/LRO support — from the host CPU while the ports themselves run 10GBASE-T Ethernet over Cat 6A cable to 100 metres, or Cat 6 to 55 metres. Transparent failover and link aggregation (teaming) are supported with a compatible switch or router, giving the two ports either redundancy or combined throughput depending on how the network is set up. The card installs as a low-profile, half-length board into a PCIe v2.0 x8 slot (x4 or larger), with full-height and half-height brackets included, and is built to work with Mac Pro 2023 and 2019 systems, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025, Linux kernel 6.6 or later, and Sonnet's Thunderbolt expansion systems.
