The Canon CN7x17 KAS T/P1 is Canon's CINE-SERVO 17-120mm with the e-Xs V digital drive unit on a PL mount, the mount widely used across the industry. It's a 7x zoom from 17 to 120mm with a 31.4 mm image circle, and it supports 8K cameras with consistent colour balance and reduced focus breathing.
7x zoom range
The zoom runs 17-120mm at T2.95 from 17 to 91mm and T3.9 at 120mm, with no built-in extender. Minimum focus is 0.85 m, the iris has 11 blades and the front diameter is 114 mm.
e-Xs V digital drive unit
This is the first CINE-SERVO to come with Canon's e-Xs V digital drive unit. Focus and iris are faster than on earlier models, for fast-moving subjects such as sport, and the servo control includes optical focus breathing correction. Three 20-pin connectors and a USB-C port allow remote control and user settings, and a 16-bit encoder outputs precise lens data for virtual production. An information display sits on top of the drive unit, where the camera operator can see it. The drive unit can be removed for manual, cinema-style operation.
PL mount communication
On cameras that support them, the PL mount carries Cooke /i Technology and ZEISS eXtended Data, which adds distortion and shading correction data for virtual production and VFX workflows. Cooke /i communication works with the drive unit installed. 12-pin serial communication is also available with broadcast camera systems that support it. The PL version is approximately 254.9 mm long and weighs approximately 3.04 kg.
