The Fairlight Live Audio Panel 40 is the largest of the Fairlight Live control surfaces, with 40 motorised flying faders and four 11.6 inch 1920 x 1080 touchscreens — one screen per group of 10 faders. Each channel carries a multi function rotary knob with an LED ring plus select, solo and mute buttons, and 40 contextual knobs and buttons follow whatever is on the focus and view screens. It is built for large live broadcasts.

The included Fairlight Live software scales to hundreds and even thousands of input channels, each with 6-band EQ, expander/gate, compressor, limiter and format based panning, plus 30 native plug-ins and support for third party VST and AU effects — four slots per channel expanding to 24 plug-ins with ChainFX. Up to 128 VCA groups with nesting, eight matrix output mixes and mix-minus feeds handle broadcast bussing, and the touchscreens show channel strips, levels, EQ, dynamics and plug-in interfaces.

Dedicated keypads run the player/recorder for capturing rehearsals and virtual sound checks, a cue player with 16 audio cues for jingles and stingers plus 16 MIDI cues for triggering external devices, and snapshots that store and recall the entire mixer state. Talkback covers four groups plus direct-to-channel and all, using the built-in microphone or a 5-pin XLR headset, and the On Air button locks the panel mid-broadcast.

Audio and video run as SMPTE 2110 IP over two 10G RJ45 Ethernet connections with PTP clock synchronisation, alongside a mic level XLR input and two line level XLR outputs on the panel, with USB-C and 1G Ethernet for the computer connection. Fairlight Live also links to ATEM switchers for direct control and audio exchange, with audio follows video across up to 100 cameras. An HDMI Type A output carries HD or Ultra HD monitoring up to 2160p60, and two internal 100-240V AC supplies provide power redundancy.
