The ATEM Monitoring Rack Panel 20 combines a SMPTE-2110 monitoring converter with a 1RU rack-mount ATEM control panel. It exists because the front-to-back cooling on ATEM Constellation IP switchers leaves no room for local controls — Blackmagic took the front panel of an ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K and rebuilt it as an independent unit that mounts wherever the rack lives.

The converter side takes two redundant SMPTE-2110 10G Ethernet connections and outputs two 12G-SDI feeds plus HDMI, with SDI rates covering 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G and the picture shown on the built-in LCD. Each 2110 IP stream carries 16 channels of embedded audio, passed through as 16 channels on the SDI outputs and 8 channels on HDMI.

The panel side has 20 buttons for controlling a local ATEM switcher, including 8 source buttons, 4 transition buttons and 6 talkback selection and mix buttons, plus a menu knob, set button and panel lock. A 5-pin XLR talkback connection sits on the front, so the unit covers set-up, emergency switching and local monitoring without pulling out a laptop.

Standards run from 720p to 2160p60 in 10-bit 4:2:2 with Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020 colourspace on SDI, SMPTE-2022-7 redundancy, IEEE 1588-2008 PTP v2 timing and NMOS IS-04/IS-05 control over a dedicated 1G Ethernet port. The optional Blackmagic IP10 codec adds 2160p59.94 and 2160p60 IP video, USB-C handles setup and updates and dual IEC power inputs provide redundancy.
