The HA5-Fiber brings HDMI sources into a fibre-optic infrastructure, converting HDMI signals up to 1080p60 — along with embedded multichannel HDMI audio or analogue RCA audio — into a studio-standard 3G-SDI signal that it sends out over single-mode fibre via an ST terminal. Single-mode fibre carries the signal up to six miles without degradation or signal loss, and because the conversion to 3G-SDI happens at the source, no extra conversion equipment is needed downstream. Like AJA's other converters, it's compatible with the free Mini-Config software for advanced configuration. Content protected by HDCP is not supported. Unlike the HA5-Plus, which outputs 3G-SDI directly over copper, the HA5-Fiber's SDI output travels over a single-mode fibre link for long-distance runs.
