The UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G is a compact Thunderbolt 4 capture device with both 12G-SDI and HDMI inputs, built for broadcast quality 10-bit capture in every SD, HD and Ultra HD standard up to 2160p60, with video and power over a single cable. It is the input-only model in the UltraStudio Mini 12G family — the one to reach for when the job is getting pictures into a computer: live streaming, archiving old masters or feeding an AI image processing pipeline.

The multi-rate SDI input runs at 270Mb, 1.5G, 3G, 6G and 12G with a loop output for passing the signal downstream, and carries 16 channels of embedded audio. The HDMI 2.0 input supports Deep Colour, switches between SD, HD, Ultra HD and 4K, and carries 8 channels. Standards cover 525i59.94 NTSC and 625i50 PAL, every 720p, 1080i and 1080p rate up to 1080p60, 2K and 4K DCI up to 60p, and Ultra HD up to 2160p60, with switchable level A and level B for 3G-SDI sources.

Capture quality is broadcast grade throughout: 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 sampling, 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all standards and up to 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 up to 2160p30, in Rec. 601, Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020 colour spaces with hardware real time conversion. HDR sources carry static metadata with HLG and PQ, RP 188 timecode and closed captions are preserved, and audio is 48 kHz, 24-bit. Files land in the format the workflow needs: Apple ProRes, DNxHR and DNxHD, AVC-Intra, XDCAM, HEVC or uncompressed 8 and 10-bit.

Because it uses the same DeckLink API as Blackmagic capture cards, virtually any video software sees it natively. Stream live through Open Broadcaster, Wirecast or vMix, capture calls in Zoom, ingest with Cinegy Capture Pro or Softron MovieRecorder, or record straight into DaVinci Resolve and the included Media Express. Disk Speed Test, LiveKey and the Desktop Video utility are also included, with a free developer SDK for Mac, Windows and Linux. In the box: a welcome wallet with QR code for the software download, plus a 1 year limited warranty.
