The Matrox Monarch EDGE E4 is built for webcast, cloud and OTT distribution: this 8-bit version takes in up to four 3G-SDI camera feeds and encodes each with an optimised H.264 engine for streaming to remote or distributed production over IP. It supports up to four HD inputs or a single 4Kp60 stream, and does not include the 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding of the 10-bit model.

Four SDI feeds, or one 4K signal

The encoder handles up to four 3G-SDI camera inputs at once for multi-camera contribution, or a single 4Kp60 stream for higher-resolution production. That range lets one unit cover a run of HD cameras or step up to a single high-resolution feed without new hardware.

H.264 encoding up to 120 Mbps

An optimised H.264 engine encodes the SDI inputs for IP delivery, running up to 120 Mbps when maximum quality is called for. Advanced scaling and de-interlacing let each input be streamed at multiple resolutions and bitrates at the same time, so a single feed can serve both a full-quality contribution path and lighter monitoring streams.

Embedded audio and transport

Each SDI input carries up to 16 channels of embedded audio, with up to 16 audio channels available per encode when streaming over SRT or MPEG-2 TS. The encoder streams over MPEG-2 TS, RTSP and SRT to suit a range of contribution and delivery environments, with ultra-low-latency transport for live remote production.

Records while it streams, two per 1RU

The Monarch EDGE E4 can record its SDI inputs while it streams, saving H.264 files to USB 3.0 storage or a network location in MOV or MP4. Its compact build fits two E4 units side by side in a single 1RU rack space, keeping a multi-encoder contribution setup dense and tidy.
