The Canon EOS C500 Mark II is a full-frame Cinema EOS camera built around an 18.69-effective-megapixel sensor that outputs up to 5.9K, with 4K Super 35 and 2K Super 16 crop modes for matching different lens formats. It's designed to move between narrative, documentary and broadcast-style productions on one body.

The sensor

A full-frame CMOS sensor delivers 5.9K output, over 15 stops of dynamic range and Dual Pixel autofocus support, with the DIGIC DV7 processor handling image processing. Selectable Full-Frame, Super 35 and Super 16 modes let the same body match different lens sets and looks.

Lens mount

The C500 Mark II ships with a Canon EF mount, and its interchangeable lens mount system lets an operator swap to an optional Cinema Locking EF or PL mount in the field — broadening the range of glass the camera can take well beyond a fixed EF-only body.

Recording and formats

Recording modes span DCI 4K/2K, UHD 4K and HD. Internally, the camera records raw using the Cinema RAW Light codec in 12-bit or 10-bit, or XF-AVC in 10-bit, all written to two CFexpress card slots with an additional SD card slot alongside. Canon Log 2 and Log 3 gamma give grading options for different workflows.

Autofocus and audio

Dual Pixel CMOS AF keeps the camera usable for solo operators and small crews, and the body records 4-channel audio, rounding out a full-frame cinema package built to sit alongside other Cinema EOS bodies on a multi-camera shoot.
